Imagine your whole life without a friend, or even someone to talk to. Some guinea pigs live their entire lives alone, and they can become depressed, lonely, sick, and can even die. Guinea pigs must have at least one companion. A few good pairs of guinea pigs are two sows (female guinea pigs) or a neutered boar (male guinea pig) and a sow because these pairs are less likely to fight than two boars. I would also suggest getting two guinea pigs with an age difference because that makes it easier for them to determine who is the dominant guinea pig between the two.
